I was referred to psychiatry UK through the nhs via my GP, there was little information from the GP as this was a new commissioned nhs service, but I was keen to be referred not only because private treatment is expensive, largely unsupported in terms of sourcing a good psychiatrist, and I travelled 2 hours from my home to have the consultation. This experience was probably one of the most difficult experiences of had with a medical priffesional, he was judgemental, gave me little hope in terms of accessing treatment and warned that if he did decide to offer treatment that there were conditions attached prior to treatment which were quite frankly unattainable - the conditions were sourcing a talking therapy I was positive couldn't be accessed on the nhs- clearly misunderstanding that this would be virtually impossible without the help of medication. Truly demoralised I drive home feeling humiliated, £500 poorer and at a loss to how I was to be diagnosed and receive treatment. It was clear I did have significant symptoms of adhd and he told me this diagnosis was highly likely. Despite this I thought I still deserved a second opinion and approached my GP who was able to refer me. Desperate for someone to help me - I agreed o have a consultation with a psychiatrist at psychiatry UK. The process was straightforward, quick and accessible. I had an online consultation, not for everyone I know but it worked for me and I was quickly diagnosed and offered treatment. I then was able to contact Jenny Winward who was to be my prescribing nurse all via email then a portal to regularly review titration- Jenny was supportive, quick to respond and although I had never met her in person - became a lifeline - any questions I had with answered quickly and with a confident practical knowledge of the condition, the first months were challenging, sleep problems, variations in mood - as well as single parenting and holding down a challenging job. Slowly but surely it was like a light had been switched on- living with that ever present dark cloud, constant low mood, inability sometimes to emotionally maintain and sustain relationships - vicious circle of guilt, depression, low mood, anxiety, never meeting the highs of the person I knew I was but couldn't quite pull it off- my self esteem grew, my confidence, I began to notice that I enjoyed doing things, finding out who I was as a person, what I had a natural ability to achieve and shine at - realising I was actually incredibly creative, exploring new hobbies which allowed me to express myself- previously not being able to motivate and sustain previously. My relationships and interactions with others in my life improved dramatically- I started to enjoy making new friends - finding it easier to interact with others - performing well at work - however it's not perfect - there is still a lot for me to work on a lifetime of unhealthy coping strategies, feeling misunderstood, others 'not getting me', even actually liking myself, patting myself on the back - not constantly being hard on myself, berating myself for messing up- constant negativity - over analysing situations conversations - accepting I'm not perfect - but actually thinking I'm ok with myself actually-accepting you can't please everyone, but feeling confident that my best is 'good enough'. To some reading this - it may seem difficult to understand - how can medication change you so much for the better - it may not work out for everyone- it's not the only approach but for me it's been life changing-the support I have received from the professionals at psychiatry UK is something I can't quite articulate in words, 'they get it' I finally have an answer to why I have found life so difficult- you find out this is not the norm, others don't have dramatic variances in mood, constant low level depression the anti depressants I'd taken for years hadn't resolved- I no w have a zest for life, I look forward to every new day - the help I've received was second to none nof once did I feel judged, only complete understanding, unconditional support, helpful advice to get me through titration, efficient responses to requests for prescriptions, trying a different dose- my GP was not able to agree to a shared care agreement following titration- they wouldn't agree to prescribe me the treatment they had referred me for- it felt like a cruel joke - as soon as I contacted Jenny she reassuredme that she would continue to prescribe until such time a SCA was confirmed - they never let me down - Dr Joiner negotiating behind the scenes with aspects of commissioning I did not understand- you have changed my life, I am a better mum, partner friend daughter sister work colleague - I've discovered my strength - my passion to advocate support others in a similar situation -you shouldn't have to fight so hard to get the treatment you need - I felt my diagnosis didn't equal other conditions - I had to fight for the right for my diagnosed condition to be acknowledged - that I needed this medication- to live a life I deserved. I am hopeful this process will not always be so difficult- I am grateful to my GP who also supported me but who always supported me and made that vital referral. I am truly grateful.

Psychiatry UK is an excellent way of skipping the waiting list on the NHS and getting the diagnosis you need. correspondence was timely and friendly (although check your spam folders) And my dr was excellent. I felt valued and I would definitely use them again if needed. It was £300 but I do feel this is worth every penny, what is money when you save months if not years of your life to get a diagnosis.

Having been told by my NHS GP that the average waiting time to be seen by an adult ADHD specialist is between 11 and 14 months, I decided to go to a private clinic for the first time. This was by far the best decision I have made. Absolutely every staff member I dealt with have been extremely professional and knowledgable. No queues, no waiting time, no inconvenience whatsoever. I got seen by a specialist (Dr Ashir) within a couple of days and at the time slot convenient for me. Psychiatry UK is a brilliant clinic, they have a really good online portal where you can see all updates and medical notes in real life. In comparison to other ADHD clinics, Psychiatry UK offers very competitive prices as well, without any compromise on the quality of service you receive as a patient. I am so thankful to Dr Ashir for having been so attentive to my case from the very start. He is a really great expert in this field and I would confidently recommend him to anyone I know. Thank you Psychiatry UK clinic, Dr Ashir and my nurse Jenny!

When I eventually overcame my fear of contacting someone about a diagnosis for ADHD I found PSYCHIATRY-UK extremely helpful and very approachable. Getting an appointment was very quick, easy and painless. The staff were incredibly efficient at answering all my questions and went beyond their remit in ensuring all avenues of financing the process were investigated. Something I did not expect. This organisation has primarily got the wellbeing of their patients at heart. Something that cannot always be said about some privately run health clinics. Dr. Elena Ghetau was very friendly, approachable and professional in her conduct throughout as well as being empathic and efficient at the same time. Although I am in a very early stage of the process I highly recommend this organisation.

I'd like to say that even though I felt rather nervous about the whole process of getting a diagnosis for my suspected condition, it was a very relaxed and interesting experience. Dr. Elena Ghedau came across totally non judgemental, pleasant, empathic but efficient at the same time. She for warned about sometimes having to be short and seemingly rude having to cut me short for reasons of time constraint. The whole process seemed very comprehensive and was well prepared and supported by the secretarial staff alike. I feel if anything relief in getting answers to questions I've asked myself for my entire adult life. I'd like to recommend Dr. Ghetau whole heartedly for the diagnosis of ADHD.

If you are reading this to make a decision if you should use this service (especially if you are an ADHD patient) all I can say is: YES go for it, don't hesitate! The waiting times in my area are about 5 months and this is actually really short comparing to how long other people had to wait. With Psychiatry-UK I had an appointment within a week and a diagnosis within 2. I was able to choose who I would like to be seen by. The Dr was friendly and knowledgeable and actually gave me some insight into my behavior/symptoms as well. The video conversation is very convenient definitely prefer that to having to go to an office. I started my medication straight away under the supervision of ADHD nurse who listened to my concerns and was not at all judgmental about anything I had to say. The first medication was not a good fit for me even though I saw some improvements and she listened to that and gave me the option of trying a different drug which is much better. She took into consideration my situation regarding work to make the medication schedule better for me and gave me tips throughout. She is always a click away if I have any concerns even weekends and it is really reassuring even though I didnt actually run into any issues so far. I am so thankful for this service because if you have ADHD you know how hard it is to actually get things sorted, I've initiated the process at my GP 2 years ago and due to many circumstances nothing came out of it until now when I found Psychiatry-UK. The money is absolutely worth spending on this service, I have been belittled and treated unkindly by my GP practice when I broached the subject and here all I experienced was friendliness and support starting from the person that picked up my call at initial inquiry to the Drs and nurse prescriber that led my care. Thank you.

I can whole heartedly recommend Psychiatry-UK and Dr Ilyas. I had been struggling for years and decided to go down the private route for various reasons and I am glad I did. I found Dr Ilyas after carrying out my own research on Psychiatry-UK and reading reviews on Dr Ilyas and it was one of the best decisions I have made. I was seriously stuggling with my condition and after a 90 minute consultation via video, and my partner and I filling out extensive questionnaires about my history it was great to finally meet him by video. I felt the consultation was great. Dr Ilyas was very empathetic, understanding and it was nice to offload everything I was feeling and get a diagnosis and medication that is changing my life for the better. I looked into doing a face to face meeting with a psychiatrist for an ADHD assesment in both Bristol and London but it was simply too expensive, time consuming wrt travel and Psychiatry-UK was much more affordable at less than half the cost for the consultation. So if cost is also an issue for you this is the route to go down. I am now in my third month of medication and stabilising on my dosage for Elvanse which is amazing. I am due to be referred back to my GP soon and will hopefully get an NHS prescriptions. Either way private or NHS prescription the cost of the drugs is totally work the improvement in my life. Don't delay.
